  • Last few days before surgery and your girl Nikki is STRESSED OUT!

Not by the surgery. That is in God’s hands and I trust His will shall be done. (Still, prayers and positive thoughts, please!)

No…I’m more worried about the stuff I have to get done BEFORE surgery. Namely, all the rest of the email and social communication for my job through the…[Read more]

  • Hey there! I’m so late, but how did your plan go last week? I saw that your hubby was offered a job. Congrats!

How are things going with Good Measures? And with packing/purging? And with taking care of YOU???

  • I would put myself at 90% over this cold. There’s some lingering congestion but the fatigue has gone away. In fact, I was up LATE last night because I have slept so much in the past few days that I wasn’t really tired. Also, I went to the gym last evening and evening workouts always cause me to get a burst of energy that makes sleep…[Read more]

  • So from what I can see you seem to be eating out a lot, which is probably due to the fact that you are super busy and likely tired after all you are doing!

Is there a way to eat at home more easily? I know my supermarket makes pre-prepped meals that you just throw in the oven. Or you could buy a rotisserie chicken and a few easy sides and eat off…[Read more]

I’m here & trying.  Life has been so challenging since 11/3 ( hubby had RNY with issues & a week in rehab) between hubby, wee one relapsing with cutting & the eldest with her issues, THEN realizing my mother in law is at her mortal end but just won’t let go (I’m too bloody much like her I fear).  Personality issues in a hobby of mine left me feel…[Read more]

Hey @nikki-massie!!! I miss all of you too!! Today we arrived in NOLA. Was hoping the weather would be better than Upstate New York, but for the whole time we are here, it’s going to be in the 40’s and 30’s and for the most part rainy. Oh well, we’ll have a great time anyway!! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to do as much food planning since we’ll…[Read more]

  • I just love how when I am all like, “I’m gonna start posting every day again!” I get sick and don’t post for a few days. Sigh.

Ok so today. First day back at work after two sick days. Blah.

    Food:

    1. Sausage Egg McMuffin (at this point maybe I just need to start planning the rest of my day around these instead of fighting so hard against it. It’s…

  • I was near death!

No, not really. But the day did suck pretty badly.

I didn’t eat much. I mostly slept. Didn’t do the gym. Blah!

  • Amen, sister!

You seem to have a good rationale behind this word so think on it some more. I’ll check back with you before we move on to the next stage of this thing! (Which, yes, I’ve been intentionally ambiguous about.)

  • Ohhhh good word. And the best part about it is that the word can do a lot to inform how you view new experiences, ideas and challenges. Can you think of some things you haven’t been able to do over the years because of various restrictions (location, parental duties, etc.) that you could envision now that you are making some life changes?

  • HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NIKKI!!!!!!

Today will be a busy day. With hubby finally finding out this week about whether or not he has a job in Greenville, I’m shifting into high gear as far as getting my house cleaned out. I’m going to call the used book store and see if they’ll take all the books. I also have a few big boxes that my husband brought…[Read more]

  • Tomorrow starts week 2 of my two week free trial with Good Measures. This week has certainly been a week of learning for me! I’m looking forward to this week!

Most of my week will be focused on packing up what we want to keep and getting rid of the rest. We get word on whether or not my husband will get a job up in Greenville this week. And if…[Read more]

  • Yesterday was a not so good day for me. We have a cold front pushing in (should be here Tuesday) and it’s blowing all the pollens from up north (northwest?) down on us. My allergies are horrible, stuffy, coughing, sneezing and my eye lids keep sticking together. Today looks like it is going to be worse. 😣

Today I HAVE to get laundry done. That’s…[Read more]

  • The word that comes to mind for me is persevere.  I have several projects started here that I haven’t been working on.  Mainly because I wasn’t feeling great, but I really need to persevere and complete them.  If I’m being honest with myself, I can push through and do more.

I also need to persevere with my weight loss, so I can get my knee rep…[Read more]

  • Today has been a very long day. I woke up with a headache and it’s hung on all day. I went and picked up the makings for some homemade spaghetti sauce and added some pre-made turkey meatballs. Hubby’s thrilled, but my stomach is on the iffy side so I don’t know if I will have any.

We should find out if my husband’s going to be offered a new…[Read more]

  • When I first read this, the word that popped into my head was endure. But really, that’s what 2017’s word should be. I feel like I spent this year just struggling to get through it to the end.

I think that my word for 2018 is going to be EPOCH. The definition of EPOCH is an event or a time marked by an event that begins a new period or d…[Read more]

  • I’m still brainstorming my word but I’m leaning heavily toward “Strong.”

This isn’t just physical, but that’s a big part of it. Before the cancer I was big on strength. My weight almost didn’t matter to me as much as my strength did. I lifted weights, worked out a lot. I loved how strong I was getting! Then I got my mastectomy and have since lost…[Read more]

  • A friend of mine got me to doing this a few years back and it’s become a tradition I love, which also helps me.

I invite you to join me in picking a word for the year.

    So…what does that even mean?

Well your word for the year should symbolize what you want from your life for the year. For example, if your past year was tumultuous, maybe your…[Read more]

  • Because it’s never too late to make a plan.

Here’s when I plan to go to the Y the next few days:

    • Today: Immediately after work before going grocery shopping.
    • Saturday: In the morning, before my wig appointment (This may be vain but I refuse to mess up a fresh wig job at the gym!)
    • Sunday: Right after church before I get lazy and…

  • Ok, Y Challenge Day 1. I’m ready!

I plan to go to the Y after work for a 30 minute treadmill workout. I still have the crud so I’m not going to push it too hard at the gym, but I will get there!

    Eats so far:

    1. Peppermint Mocha protein shake
    2. I’ll have half a chicken shawarma wrap I have leftover from yesterday
    3. Power Crunch Bar and a…
