  • I thought that I was late checking in today, but I guess not!

I got all my steps in and most of my liquids in before lunch. Lunch was out with my sister and oldest grandson. Today’s a stressful one. It’s the deadline for turning in the “Voluntary Separation” forms at my husband’s work. We’ve chosen not to volunteer. I imagine we’ll find out soon…[Read more]

    Today has been from Hades…

2 hour appoint with joint implant dr only to be told keep doing pt for the knee implant (45 mins sitting in lobby, um NO. My time is important also.  I usually would have left & rescheduled but hubby would have been furious), patella tendonitis (um haven’t I been mentioning to the dr for 2 years that my knee hurts).…[Read more]

  • Mid-week sweep!

Robin, I just hate that you are under this level of stress and uncertainty, but I applaud you for facing it head on. I think mindfulness is a great goal and I’m interested to hear how it’s going. I am getting some sense of it in your daily check-ins but do you have any “aha” moments you’d like to share?

  • Mid-week sweep! You have some ambitious goals here, but do-able.

From my understanding, the GMI is comprised of a lot of factors and not just your carb intake. It seems to reward you for having nutritionally balanced meals (so even if there are carbs in there, if it’s all starches and, say, no fruits or veggies over the course of a day you’ll get…[Read more]

  • Mid-week sweep! I like the fact that you aligned having to do lesson plans with scheduling out your healthy stuff. That’s working smarter, not harder!

How’s that coming along? Are you doing ok?

  • Hey Maria! Are you on vacay? If so, I hope you’re having an AWESOME time!

How are your goals going so far?

  • Mid-week sweep! How’s your goal going? Did you bring those healthy snacks into the job? Are you choosing them over the unhealthy ones?

    Inquiring Nikkis need to know!

  • Mid-week sweep! (aka Nik checks up on you)

How’s it going? Have you been hitting your protein targets? Your exercise? Kudos for getting it done Sunday and Monday!

  • Mid-week sweep! How’s it going? Have you sorted the stressors in your life into those buckets? (I’m very impressed by this by the way…)

How’s that process going for you?

It’s supposed to rain here in central Texas but so far the sun’s still shining. I hope it will get here soon!

I also remember my children starting college. My oldest started Baylor the same week my husband started a new job. In Albuquerque. I was trying to get our house up for sale and get the two younger kids back to school. Not my favorite…[Read more]

First off, forgive any typos because I am doing this on voice text!

Regarding your question about cereal, am I remembering correctly that you did join good measures? If so, shoot an email to your dietitian through the platform. Tell her you are having a serial craving and you want to know what your best options are. She’ll probably respond with a…[Read more]

  • So today is the day AFTER my baby went to college.

I don’t think it’s hit me yet but it will.

Today is going to be a fairly hectic day at work but I don’t mind it. Tonight is the live show. I’m trying to learn to keep things simple so that I don’t freak out. Like the live show. I haven’t had much time to prep so we are going to be talking about…[Read more]

  • Truthfully, I keep hearing from another patient where I had my RNY that I need to be tracking my macro/ micro-nutrients & im bloody confused by it all.

So, at some point in September I will be signing onto Good Measures also.

I started my day with a dental appointment and am now killing time at the grocery store until it’s time to pick up my husband’s prescription. I’m sitting in the former food court area drinking a free cup of decaf coffee.

Breakfast – none yet unless this coffee counts

Lunch will be the roasted turkey breast and olive spread I didn’t have…[Read more]

Hi!  Just got back from my trip to Delaware and I’m trying to get back into my routine!  Exhaustion does not help!  My eating was not great so I need to get that back under control, but I was much more active than normal so that’s good!

    @liz-kelly check in!

  • Today is the day. My baby girl goes to college!

Most of today will be moving in. I had egg muffins for breakfast with salsa. Not sure about lunch but I’m making vegetarian chili for dinner.

    Have an awesome day everyone!

Oh and a challenge. At the end of your check in type @ and any letter in your first name and see who comes up. Then tag them…[Read more]

Today was busy! And I’ve had a headache all day.

I honestly am not thinking well enough to do a meaningful report back (my apologies!) but tomorrow is a new day.

    Good night, my dear friends!

Well I know this advice can be useless if you are not really comfortable talking to people but here are my tips:

    1. Go in with a smile on your face! They don’t know you so they don’t know you’re nervous. Fake it til you make it.
    2. My best line for meeting people and making friends is, “Hi, I don’t know you but I’d like to. My name is Nikki. What’s…

    <hr />

Stress is definitely starting to take a toll on both my husband and me. Neither of us are sleeping well and our eating is becoming more of an issue. He’s eating too much and I’m not wanting to eat because everything makes me queasy. Even my favorite foods.

Working on steps (I’m having a lot of pain in my hip so this is slow) and my…[Read more]

  • Since I started using Good Measures, one thing I have noticed is that I was eating protein to the exclusion of a lot of micro-nutrients (micro-nutrients = vitamins/minerals). Now, granted, I am RNY and so by default I’ll always malabsorb micro-nutrients and need to take vitamins HOWEVER that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t eat a diet rich in…[Read more]
