Well @robin-miller, we have similar temps today! I think the high is only supposed to be 68 or something like that. Very strange for August! Also strange is the fact that my tomato plants seem to have gotten a second wind in this crazy weather! It’s been rainy and cooler than normal all month and I have crazy tomatoes fruiting. I don’t think…[Read more]

  • Today has started out at a wonderfully cool upper 60s. Such a treat for us here! I’m starting my day with a dental appointment. I have a chip in a tooth that the dentist wants to fill in as it’s a bit irritating. After that it’s back to cleaning out the house. I’ve already been “yelled”  at by the dog for being 10 minutes late feeding her.…[Read more]

  • Ok I think you’ve laid out your challenges really well. Question: When you’d do your shake before, would it be ready to drink? I know Premier shakes hold up well, especially if you put them in an insulated lunch bag with a cooling pack. Is it a problem to pull one out and have it while the students are doing work or sipping on it throughout a…[Read more]

  • I think you made great choices for your birthday dinner! I have to tell you the truth: bok choy kind of stresses me out. It’s like you have to go all in. There is no biting off a little bit. Either you are eating all of that sucker or none of it! 😉

Good plan for this week. I hope you had managed a few fun things on vacay!

  • My very first dietitian gave me some great advice, which was to try to fit as many colors of the rainbow into my diet as possible, with emphases on the colors green and brown (by that I took her to mean protein, not like brown bread). When I’m on top of my game, that’s the standard I try to follow!

  • Since our mini pledge challenge has been extended a week, my pledge this week is to work on drinking liquids before I snack to try and keep the stress eating to a minimum.

  • I extended the mini-pledge to include this upcoming week (mostly because there’s a gap between this week and the start of our 5k stuff…that’s the tricky thing about doing challenges that start the first of the month…things don’t line up well but it’s ok!)

If you get around to posting a plan, that’s great. If not, it won’t be held against you…[Read more]

  • You did great this week! Especially considering that the concept of the daily/weekly can be confusing at first!

I will indeed say a prayer for folks dealing with all this flooding. I’m so glad you’re safe.

  • Actually I called folks to make one more weekly plan (mostly as a stall tactic to get us through to 5k training and other things). You always post a plan regardless so I think you’ll be ok with that!

  • Woot! Do you return to work next week?

Also, questions. I know a lot of post-op teachers and I’ve always been dying to ask: what are the particular challenges you face to healthy living during the school year? I’ve heard some folks say that not being able to choose when you eat is hard, as well as the hectic schedule and keeping energy up. But…[Read more]

  • Woot on the 2 lbs.! As I said on support call last night, I continue to see good signs from you. You are doing a great job recognizing your needs, taking care of yourself and planning around the things that come your way. I get more and more encouraged each time you post. It makes me happy!

The 5k thing…yikes. This is going to be a test of my…[Read more]

  • I just wanted to give you a shout-out for being a supportive community member. I love that you responded here and I want to see us all doing more of that, so kudos to you! And thanks. <3

  • I was thinking last night how I wish I had a magic wand to take some of this stress away from you! @robin-miller you are genuinely one of the kindest, most good natured people I know and it really bugs me that you are going through this. But you are strong (you know that already) and it seems like you are planning around the challenges. That’s…[Read more]

  • Wow! That’s a lot of cooking. But once you get it done, you’ll be set for the week. Do me a favor and post what recipes you decide on. Just cuz I’m nosey. 😉

As usual, I’ll be back through with my mid-week sweep on Thursday. Have a great week and see you in the daily check-ins!

Wow! You went all in on this daily check-in but I love it. I think we’ve got LOTS to work with here.

So let me see if I can get my thoughts out in an organized fashion:

    1. YES! This is the perfect place to be accountable every day. Each day when you log in there should be a thread named by date but if you don’t see one, feel free to start one by…

  • Time to get busy and get as much cleaned out of my house as possible. That being said, I’m also going to take so time to make sure that I have what I need available so I don’t fall victim to foods that I shouldn’t be eating. I’m planning on making a BIG batch of Unjury peanut butter protein balls in chocolate and strawberry (mmmmmm! Tastes like…[Read more]

Today has been a very quiet day for me. My husband is working on his resume. I’m pretty much taking advantage of the quiet as my week will be a stressful one.

Breakfast was Greek yogurt and a power crunch protein bar.

Lunch was some turkey (I was going to have the rest of the kale salad but my husband beat me to it)

Dinner is still up in the…[Read more]

  • How can it be almost September already? I’m not ready for September!

Everyone at my husband’s work who’s “Voluntary Separation” forms are accepted will work their last day on Thursday. People are being fired left and right. I’ll not be surprised if layoffs start Friday (that way they don’t have to pay for the Labor Day holiday). Corporate has…[Read more]

  • It’s too quiet up in here!

Today has been a fairly steady day for me. I went to church, took the kid school shopping, then came home and (gasp!) meal prepped! I’ve got a big pot of veggie soup on (a friend gave me half her CSA box and I was determined not to waste it).

I’m going to try to sneak in a long walk before support call tonight! (Info…[Read more]

Unfortunately, no “aha” moments. Mainly trying to stop and see if I’m really hungry, thirsty or wanting to eat out of stress. I’m definitely still doing too much stress eating.

It’s just now hit me that today ends this challenge. I was sitting here trying to decide what my next pledge was going to be. 😕
