That works well for me too, writing down what I’m going to eat for the day. There’s something about that process that makes me SUPER committed. Like…it becomes the biggest deal to deviate from that plan!
The trick is…making yourself write it all down every day. (Yep.)

Mondays. Ugh. I get it.
I looked at your zero inbox aspiration and actually laughed out loud at the thought of getting there. Well…I should say I laughed at the prospect of theย Bariatric Foodie email inbox to get there. For my work inbox I do a purge every few months. Sigh. The thought overwhelms me.
Overall, I was inspired to read your daily…[Read more]

Whew! almost late! I had intended on signing in much earlier however I got in to an argument with my Mother-in-law which always results in me Rage Cleaning. So far I have almost 2500 steps in so rage cleaning does good for me but it makes my day interesting. Today is my day off and I actually have time most of this morning so I’m planning on…[Read more]

Well @robin-miller, we have similar temps today! I think the high is only supposed to be 68 or something like that. Very strange for August! Also strange is the fact that my tomato plants seem to have gotten a second wind in this crazy weather! It’s been rainy and cooler than normal all month and I have crazy tomatoes fruiting. I don’t think…[Read more]

Today has started out at a wonderfully cool upper 60s. Such a treat for us here! I’m starting my day with a dental appointment. I have a chip in a tooth that the dentist wants to fill in as it’s a bit irritating. After that it’s back to cleaning out the house. I’ve already been “yelled” ย at by the dog for being 10 minutes late feeding her.…[Read more]

Ok I think you’ve laid out your challenges really well. Question: When you’d do your shake before, would it be ready to drink? I know Premier shakes hold up well, especially if you put them in an insulated lunch bag with a cooling pack. Is it a problem to pull one out and have it while the students are doing work or sipping on it throughout a…[Read more]

I think you made great choices for your birthday dinner! I have to tell you the truth: bok choy kind of stresses me out. It’s like you have to go all in. There is no biting off a little bit. Either you are eating all of that sucker or none of it! ๐
Good plan for this week. I hope you had managed a few fun things on vacay!

My very first dietitian gave me some great advice, which was to try to fit as many colors of the rainbow into my diet as possible, with emphases on the colors green and brown (by that I took her to mean protein, not like brown bread). When I’m on top of my game, that’s the standard I try to follow!

Micro nutrition stresses me out! I did a program once that stressed me out so bad I think I might have a little PTSD from it. So I can safely say no I don’t track micro nutrients

Since our mini pledge challenge has been extended a week, my pledge this week is to work on drinking liquids before I snack to try and keep the stress eating to a minimum.

I extended the mini-pledge to include this upcoming week (mostly because there’s a gap between this week and the start of our 5k stuff…that’s the tricky thing about doing challenges that start the first of the month…things don’t line up well but it’s ok!)
If you get around to posting a plan, that’s great. If not, it won’t be held against you…[Read more]

You did great this week! Especially considering that the concept of the daily/weekly can be confusing at first!
I will indeed say a prayer for folks dealing with all this flooding. I’m so glad you’re safe.

Actually I called folks to make one more weekly plan (mostly as a stall tactic to get us through to 5k training and other things). You always post a plan regardless so I think you’ll be ok with that!

Woot! Do you return to work next week?
Also, questions. I know a lot of post-op teachers and I’ve always been dying to ask: what are the particular challenges you face to healthy living during the school year? I’ve heard some folks say that not being able to choose when you eat is hard, as well as the hectic schedule and keeping energy up. But…[Read more]

I was thinking last night how I wish I had a magic wand to take some of this stress away from you! @robin-miller you are genuinely one of the kindest, most good natured people I know and it really bugs me that you are going through this. As usual, I’ll be back through with my mid-week sweep on Thursday. Have a great week and see you in the daily check-ins!
