  • Where to start, where to start?

Walking, of course. I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t walk! I started push-ups at the end of last week and will continue adding one to each set until I reach 25. Starting on the plank challenge Monday morning.

Continuing to work on not grazing my way through the day. I was doing well with that until Saturday when…[Read more]

  • It’s a gorgeous day in central Texas, also! Sunny and actually not too hot!

Today’s been a lazy one. Church, lunch out and a nap!

Breakfast was a Premier Protein shake (running late for church)

Lunch was a beef tostada without the crunchy tortilla (think mini taco salad)

    Dinner will be leftovers

    Bedtime snack – I don’t know yet

  • My nutritionist wants me to eat between 1300-1500 calories and have my carbs at around 100 grams. 50% of every meal is supposed to be protein. That’s all the guidance I have received. I have problems with getting above 1,000 calories most days which I know isn’t enough for how much I walk.

  • I’m so glad you’re feeling better, Nikki!

I’m having one of those mornings. In the wee hours, the lady that lives behind us let her dog(s) out. She turned on her backyard flood lights. Which woke up our dog who decided going out was a GREAT idea. Usually she wakes up my husband (he of the middle of the night Milkbones) but apparently this time it…[Read more]

  • Same ol’ stuff.

Rumors are as flying all around my husband’s work. The one that’s really picking up steam is about the layoffs on the 19th. Targeting the longer term employees who still have the pension plan. Of which my husband is one. Cut the employees that will cost the company down the road (and happen to have the bigger paychecks) and then…[Read more]

  • Slowly, very slowly! However I discovered all the boxes that I was dreading going through are full of my mom’s cookbooks. I’m going to hold off on going through them and let my kids go through and pick out what they want.

Meals have definitely been on the quick and easy side, but I have also managed to keep them healthy.

I’m getting in too many…[Read more]

    1. I was going to say not well at all, but that’s not exactly true. So far, 5 of the boxes I’ve gotten to are packed with my Mom’s cookbooks. I’m going to let my kids go through them (all but my oldest who’s in Boston. I’ll go through them and pick out any vegetarian ones for her).  Afterwards, I’ll donate the rest to the local charity store. I…

  • I’m pretty much  diving in head first. I think that I will start at the door and try to work my way around the room. However, that’s very much subject to change!

  • I’m sorry you’re feeling so lousy!😢

Today, so far, has started well for me. We’ve had a cold front come through that dropped our temperature from 98 on Tuesday to 78 yesterday. We woke up to 53 degrees this morning!

I could really just cut and paste my days in here. Cleaning out the house, steps and liquids.

I am working on the self assessment…[Read more]

  • Actually, that’s a great idea! As I forgot to get milk when I went grocery shopping yesterday, I’m going to pick up some baby carrots and the such when I go get milk. I’d love to eat fruit but find it’s best if I have it at the end of a meal to avoid that special drop in blood sugar.

  • Basically a repeat of yesterday. Walking, liquids, cleaning out the house.

Update on my husband’s job situation – on Monday, he sent an application to another company that’s within the same company (if that makes sense). Basically does the same thing at a different location, but makes money instead of losing it. Then, yesterday morning, they…[Read more]

  • I’m a bit brain dead today and can’t think. So, I’ve run errands, including getting a new fitbit so I can put my old one out of my misery! Cleaning out the office (all week), finishing up the laundry. Walking (I know that this is a cross training day, but I’m a walker)

Breakfast was a Premier Protein water

Snack before walking into the grocery…[Read more]

  • Happy Labor Day!

Today is laundry day for me. Plus “flip the mattress over” day since my husband is off and can help me out.

So, laundry and what I can get done in our home office to start cleaning it out.

    Breakfast will be an omelet

Lunch the chicken salad I made yesterday

    Dinner is still undecided

I’m adding extra time to my walking today…[Read more]

  • <p style=”text-align: left;”>Still cleaning out the house. More yard work today. Lots of listening to my husband talk about what’s going on at work.</p>
    Breakfast never happened

Lunch – I made some chicken salad and had a protein pudding for dessert

Dinner will be my husband’s seafood gumbo. He has it simmering on the stove and the smell is…[Read more]

  • Mini pledge check-in! I didn’t do as well as I had hoped on getting liquids in. Actually, I stunk at it. But, hey, from where I am now, it can only get better! ?

  • Working on the Self Evaluation and the 5K, of course. Along with my cleaning out the house. This week I’m planning on getting our home office cleaned out. (that’s the room with the blue walls that you always comment on, Nikki). If I can get that room done, the rest of the house will seem easy! I just hope that I can get it done in a week!

    Meals…[Read more]

  • Started the day by sleeping in for a change. Then up and busy. The hope is to get some outside things done over the weekend. Mowing and trimming the yard and moving some plantings around to make room for some new crepe myrtles we bought for the front of the house. However, while the temperature outside isn’t all that terrible, the humidity is a…[Read more]

  • Another day of cleaning out the house. Of course, now  that the workers that volunteered to quit are gone, rumors are running wild. The funny thing is, they’re coming from another company location! My husband is getting after work phone calls from friends at the company location two hours from us about what their hearing is going to happen and w…[Read more]

  • I posted about (vented) in my daily check-in. Tomorrow will be a very interesting day at my husband’s work as all the ones that took the separation package will be gone. Hopefully, we’ll find out more about what’s going to happen with the rest of the employees. Whatever it is, we can deal with it. We just need to know what “it” is so we can.

Today is a strange one. It started on a good note. All of my husband’s family that have been dealing with Harvey are safe and sound. The ones that weren’t effected by the initial storms have had to be evacuated yesterday due to overflowing reservoirs or the second landfall of Harvey. We had a very tense night as one of the cousins that had been…[Read more]
