  • Ok, not sure if this is a true NSV, but I have been a to walk without a cane for  almost 3-4 years!! Majority of the time I do not use it (mainly around the house) unless I am by myself!! This is a huge accomplishment for me.

Wow where is everyone today? Fridays must be busy days for people. I know they are for me. I went to my councilor today and things went good there. Kiddos were a little trying today, My oldest is starting to get some anxiety about school and change is rough for him. but I think this year is gonna be a good year.

    Food I did OK on.
    Breakfast was…[Read more]

  • I don’t know, but I think it’s more about how we feel about ourselves and where we are that is more important.  Why try to be in the appropriate category should influence where you should be. Just my opinion.

  • I never associated whey as a problem until recently. I have thought about it and realized it having problems after consuming it. I have used this past week a plant based protein powder and I haven’t experienced any of the problems when drinking a whey isolate shake. Yes, cheese will be a challenge, but I may try introducing it again after a while.…[Read more]

  • Honestly I like the concept. We should be measuring body composition more that just BMI. However I don’t buy-in to “its all in what we eat” and the measuring your waist as a hard rule sounds iffy to me.

I think its a good piece to the puzzle but should not be a one stop shop.

Ok my life is too damned hectic!

So I woke up, went to work. During my lunch break I walked about a mile to go pick up stuff for my daughter for a retreat she’s attending for the weekend. Walked back. Immediately after work, I had to rush said kid to said retreat in Western Maryland, then get back to Baltimore in time to do Bariatric Foodie Live.…[Read more]

  • I saw this article on Twitter and clicked through. I’m confused and conflicted! I don’t know if this is good info or bad. I don’t know if I should be encouraged or discouraged.

Give it a read and tell me what YOU think. I may need some help putting this in…[Read more]

  • Oh man! Cheese is a hard thing to replace too.

Is it dairy in general or lactose that bothers you? I’m guessing it’s dairy in general but if it is lactose, I know any whey isolate doesn’t have lactose. I don’t know if they make lactose-free cheese (heading off to Google…)

  • So yesterday I missed my nightly check in! typically this would send me on the beginnings of a downward spiral that ends in my hiddie hole. But not today! Bring on the Screwup worksheet (I will find the link again later to share if you dont know what I’m talking about)

    Step one
    FORGIVE

I forgive myself for missing the night time check in on…[Read more]

Today was FANTASTIC! My new “Subtitle” is gonna be a blast! I spent all day in several meetings. I figured that I was going to be coming in to the middle of the process beings how my team was formed the day before i left…[Read more]

Today is the first day since before conference that i have not hit the ground running. we do have counciling appointments today, and I need to finish school shopping but I got to sleep till i woke up (uh 7am? why is it that days that we can sleep in we don’t and days we have to get up we can’t?) • I had a bad night last night so I’m starting the day off tired. Luckily, everything I need to do today is relatively easy. Finishing cleaning everything off my kitchen counters so we can finish the back splash. A little bit of laundry that I would normally do tomorrow. A quick trip to the grocery store so we can eat this weekend. I have a roast…[Read more]

Today was a relatively good day. Ran some errands (had to get a mattress cover and pad for my grandson’s new bed. He’s being bumped up to a twin bed as his brother needs the crib). I got the kitchen mostly prepped to finish up the back splash in our kitchen this weekend. Got my steps and liquids all in.

    Breakfast – protein shake

    Lunch – hotdog…[Read more]

  • Things are going pretty well. I have been doing good at eliminating dairy and wheat, until tonight where I had a Premier protein bar (whey). So far so good with my meals, but I may at some point ask for your assistance, thanks. Today I had such a huge craving for cheese, but I distracted myself and sipped water.

Busy day doing lots of stuff around the house.

Ate my meals slowly, small bites and chewing. Did well not having any dairy or wheat until a little while ago, where I are a Premier protein bar (whey). Hopefully I won’t get any side effects.

Breakfast – 1 slice gluten free bread, 1 egg

Lunch – leftover grilled basil garlic chicken breast, roasted…[Read more]

  • Oh, and to add to that, I did get my high intensity workout done yesterday. I also got a lecture from my son about spending an hour and a half on the treadmill doing it. Told me it would be overdoing it for him to do that workout for that long. I’m happy to say that I am not anywhere near as sore as I was afraid I would be!
