Nice!
Well I made a mistake today. I gave in to a chocolate donut. Ugh. I thought I was gonna pass out in church! Lesson learned.
We’re going to a BBQ today so I’ll stick to the protein available. I’ll be back in time for our book club and support call so I won’t be there in the midst of temptation a super long time thankfully.
After I go over…[Read more]

Can you tell us a little about what you are/are not allowed to do as you are healing? By “continue with my healing process” what do you mean? Do you have PT? Or are you taking it easy? Inquiring (and accountability) minds want to know!
I’m so glad everything went smoothly for you. Now it’s time to heal you up!

Get it, girl!
That’s a good idea about walking the airport. I should try that sometime.
Is all the food provided at this trip or do you have some meals on your own?

Go and live today, endeavoring to find the joy in each thing you do (even mundane things!) Whatever you do today, do it with a smile and a desire to find the positive side of things.
This evening when you journal, start again with you affirmation at the top of the page.
Then write about how it felt to try to focus on the positive in…[Read more] -

I love that!
My foundational affirmation is one my mother gave to me and each of my children at birth:
“You are the descendant of kings and queens and noble tribesman. Only God is greater than you.”
She whispered that to each of us when we were born and I think about that every day as I go into the world. She taught me that kings and queens are…[Read more]

Write your affirmation at the top.
Write about a short-term goal you have. Not your big goal, but something you can see yourself accomplishing in the next few weeks or months. I want you to write about how that’s been progressing. What’s gotten in the way? Are you feeling empowered/encouraged or frustrated/defeated about it? If the latter,…[Read more] -

Eh. I mean life sorta planned me today lol.
Breakfast was willy-nilly. Lunch was pre-determined (my office goes out for burgers every Friday) and I was supposed to go to sushi with the kid yesterday but ended up in the ER with the boyfriend so…yeah.
I think if you aren’t a planner, that’s fine. It may be that you just have to be educated about…[Read more]

Here’s the menu for our cooking demo! I’ll post a shopping list over the weekend if you want to cook-along (or just make sure you have the stuff on hand to make soon).
As a reminder, we are doing summer recipes! I especially want to focus on things you can make that are good for you AND that you can share with others at a summer BBQ, so I’ll be…[Read more]

I woke up this morning in pain! Cramps. Ugh. Since my surgery last year, my hormones have been whacky so for the first time in my life I am consistently experiencing really bad cramps. This genuinely reminds me of being in labor.
That said, this morning I had to do a store run for Extra Strength Tylenol and I had an iced coffee then a breakfast…[Read more]

I call that “feast and famine” and I deal with it exactly the way you described. In “feast” mode (more appetite) I try to up my veggie/fiber intake and I also switch to eating ALL my protein before I eat anything else. That helps, along with upping my water intake.
During “famine” mode (little to no appetite) I generally go with smaller portions…[Read more]

As you carry out whatever you said you are going to do today, I’d like you to do one additional thing.
I’d like you to find a positive affirmation. You can Google one, write one yourself, doesn’t matter.
Just as a guide post, affirmations usually start with the words, “I am…” or “I have…” and they are usually positive statements of WHAT you…[Read more]

Sue, let us know how it goes!
I have a theory though. The chicken in frozen meals is marinated (pre-treated) to be more tender than chicken you cook yourself at home (if you think about it that makes sense since it can be in several different temperature ranges, all of which could affect the texture of the protein in the chicken).
Have you ever…[Read more]

So I am big into podcasts. One I just discovered and LOVE is called “Optimal Living Daily.” Basically it finds great blog posts about living your best life, and reads them to you – one each day! The podcast is usually 8-10 minutes and I listen on my walk from the parking lot into work.
This one is about excuses. We all make them. And they tend to…[Read more]

I’ve been a little all over the place lately and I am ready for that to stop. I did better this morning with breakfast (a meat/cheese roll-up) and I have my eats for the day. It’s raining cats and dogs here in Baltimore but I may just go out walking at lunch anyway.
I’ll check in throughout the day. What’s going on with you guys?

Catching up with old friends is good! I’m glad you got to do that – and glad you went to bed early-ish (for you). LOL.
(Side note: Enough of us have trouble with getting to bed early that that I think that is DEFINITELY going to be part of the “Simple Healthy Habits” Challenge.)

If you made your list yesterday, you have your marching orders on what to DO today.
What I’d like you to write about is this.
How do you feel about making time to do things for yourself? Does that feeling make you more or less likely to do those things?
Lastly, do you think that feeling, that narrative, needs to change?
