My day started early with the dog deciding we needed to get up NOW!
I got my shopping done including the roasted turkey breast for lunches from the grocery store.
Steps are done (and no, Nikki, not on the treadmill) I have 12 ounces to go before hitting my 80 ounce goal
Breakfast was sausage and lentil soup
Lunch was some of the turkey and…[Read more]

I’m interested in this stress management process. Is this something you learned about? Tell me more! Like…I know you are a list-maker. Is this about making lists of things you control vs. influence? And what do you do with that info?

I was so glad you joined us!
I think we each have our different reasons for being here in the FNC and different ways of using it and that’s ok. I want you to feel empowered to reach out to me or any other member whenever you need some support.
I wrote your goal down!
As for my day, it’s busy as usual. I prepped breakfasts (that is my vulnerable…[Read more]

Hey! Ok so I want to make sure I understand so that I can a) help and b) fix anything that’s confusing!
The weekly plan isn’t a super formal thing. You’ve been doing it through this mini-pledge! The basic gist is that you post what you’d like to accomplish in a given week. I usually come through on Sunday evening or Monday afternoon and look at…[Read more]

Um…I think we have graduated to maybe saying “I only like cottage cheese prepared certain ways…” Just sayin’! LOL.
Awesome that you found a few good recipes. I love just hollowing out an apple and putting some sweetener and apple pie spice in there and baking it. Then I fill it with either sweetened cottage cheese (which I don’t think you’d…[Read more]

Vacation, yay!
I think your goal sounds good. I understand it to be:
- Make the best choices you can while on vacay.
- Avoid dairy and wheat when possible.
I’d just empower you to be your own advocate on #2 and remember that restaurants and hotels are not called the HOSPITALITY industry for nothing. Their job is to please you! So make sure you…[Read more]

My husband and I are working on a plan to get done all that we need to do. About to head out to look for a couple of good sized bushes to replace our small rose bushes on the front of the house. (can you say “curb appeal”?). Hubby’s going to work on his resume tonight.
Breakfast was very late (more like lunch time) and was sausage and lentil…[Read more]

My pledge this week is to concentrate on mindful eating. To stop and think about whether I’m really hungry or if it’s stress getting the best of me.
I’m definitely headed into a crazy season of my life! My focus has had to under go a radical change. Steps will have to very possibly take a distant second place to doing everything I can to finish…[Read more]

Happy Saturday!
Today is laundry/ work/ Get ready for school day
Laundry is my goal for today. I need to get kids clothes ready for school. They need to be organized and sorted to pull out all the too small stuff. Thankfully I did some of that earlier this summer so it should not be too bad.
Work should be somewhat low key because it is…[Read more]

@thinkhealthy malls and stores are great! I know around here sometimes even Churches will allow you to walk in their buildings. We do that frequently because the winter roads here are NOT safe for walking and sidewalks don’t exist. Even if they did the plows would bury them and no one wants to dig them out after that. (we have enough problems…[Read more]

Kiddos were a little trying today, My oldest is starting to get some anxiety about school and change is rough for him. but I think this year is gonna be a good year.

Honestly I like the concept. We should be measuring body composition more that just BMI. However I don’t buy-in to “its all in what we eat” and the measuring your waist as a hard rule sounds iffy to me.
I think its a good piece to the puzzle but should not be a one stop shop.

Ok my life is too damned hectic!
So I woke up, went to work. During my lunch break I walked about a mile to go pick up stuff for my daughter for a retreat she’s attending for the weekend. Walked back. Immediately after work, I had to rush said kid to said retreat in Western Maryland, then get back to Baltimore in time to do Bariatric Foodie Live.…[Read more]

Oh man! Cheese is a hard thing to replace too.
Is it dairy in general or lactose that bothers you? I’m guessing it’s dairy in general but if it is lactose, I know any whey isolate doesn’t have lactose. I don’t know if they make lactose-free cheese (heading off to Google…)
