  • Mid-week Sweep!

How are things going? I can’t tell whether it’s this past Sunday or the one coming up where you need to go to bed early (I think it’s the one coming up). How is your phased in sleep plan coming along?

I’m so glad your shaking has calmed down. I experienced first hand how limiting it can feel to be “doped up,” as you put it. Not…[Read more]

  • Sounds like you’re doing great! Thanks for checking in!

  • Today is the beginning of a very long and hard two months. After a very long discussion last night, my husband and I came to the conclusion that there is no future (or security) at his work now. He’s applying for a transfer to the location 2+ hours away. Which means we’re moving. He would like us out of our house by Thanksgiving. So, lot’s to keep…[Read more]

  • This is so inspiring and beautiful!!! Thanks Nikki!!

Why is it that the smallest things can bring you much joy??? I’m a lover of flavored coffees and I use a Keurig at home. Do you know how hard it is to find k-cups with a variety of flavors in decaf??? I finally came across a site that had a big selection in decaf flavored coffees, BUT not in k-cups (ground bags). I took a chance to try some and…[Read more]

  • I don’t want to 100% commit to posting these every day as life has a tendency to start working against those sorts of commitments. But I do have a mental reflection every day on significant things I see and hear. When I am able, I totally plan to share them here.

For the first one I want to tell you about my friend Diana.

    She’s not a “friend”…[Read more]

  • So the 5k training plan threw me for a loop this week.

THEY TOOK AWAY MY THURSDAY REST DAY!

Since I have the live show tonight, here’s what I will do. I’m going to take the rest day today (I’ve done the other days this week) and then do cross-training on Sunday (which actually works out better as I have time to do so that day!)…[Read more]

  • Okay, mid-week sweep. Pretty much going as planned. Planning and prepping breakfasts and lunches has really been beneficial. Being able to pack my lunches without any preparation everyday has made it less stressful and pretty much not straying to not so good food choices. My breakfasts, although tasty, don’t seem to be agreeing with my stomach. So…[Read more]

  • Today is my two year anniversary since adopting my kitties…my reason for living 😊. I don’t know what I’d do without them. Just wish they were a bit healthier.

Took Brinley to the vet this morning for another respiratory infection, and she said she might also have kitty herpes.  So another shot, and a bill for $163.  I’m going to try to get som…[Read more]

  • Wishing you the very best luck on the removal, and hopeful that it won’t lead to more regain.  You’re very committed to your exercise routine, so that should help.  I’ll say a prayer for you.

  • I’m sorry you have been struggling and continue to struggle. I believe you are doing what is best for you and hopefully you will find the correct support you need. Maybe your doctor or team there have some suggestion for you. I am sure tou have the support of a lot of foodies! Hang in thete!

  • Oh do share about the spice blends!

I have a few I need to use. Like I bought berbere (are you familiar with that? it’s a spice blend used in Ethiopian cooking) so that I could make Mesir Wat (which are lentils in this deliciously flavorful sauce).

I need to clean out my spice cabinet, truth be told.

On the Z-Quil I’m trying to use the “break…[Read more]

  • Today’s check-in for me is called “Nikki took a sleep aid to help her get some rest and now really regrets it…”

My doctor asked to see me about my sleep issues but in the meantime said I could use Z-Quil so I did. It’s weird how if I have a glass of wine, I’m goosey for about 15 minutes and then totally sober. Sleep aids? I took it at 9:30 p.m.…[Read more]

  • I MADE IT TO ZUMBA!!!!

I think I may have overdone it as my shoulder and neck hurt. I really need to be careful with my movement until I get these issues worked out.

  • Well the time has come and the Band will be removed on Thursday Oct. 5th.  After 10 years the band has slipped and is causing uncontrollable re flux.  I am not scared about the actual surgery but about what will happen after with my weight.  Granted I have not had any saline in the band for almost two years so not much restriction but without it…[Read more]

I finally felt as though I needed to do something for ME today!  I joined a diet bet, rejoined Weight Watcher’s and went for ab2+ mole walk!!!

i am tired and my knees hurt, but I am determined to keep it up!!

also found out this afternoon that my daughter is going to file for divorce.  It’s been a long road for her, but she’s done and wants t…[Read more]

  • Ok I’m back with foods:

    1. Sausage Egg McMuffin (sigh…)
    2. Chicken Schwarma
    3. I will have a protein bar in a bit
    4. I’m not sure about dinner although I’m leaning toward keeping it simple with a ramekin of cheesy meatballs.

I will make it to Zumba tonight!!!

  • I know that drained feeling all too well! Be kind to yourself and don’t overdo!

We’re still in recovery mode from all the stress. My husband is still employed! However, I think that he will be trying to get a transfer to the main location (about 2.5 hours from here, so the cleaning out and prepping the house to sell continues.)

    This morning, I’m…[Read more]

  • I…am a slouch.

I’ve just been so TIRED lately. I have labs coming up but honestly I think it’s just the discomfort I experience while sleeping. I’m not sleeping well and it’s finally catching up with my body. I got all dressed yesterday to go to the gym but I felt like someone literally drained my body of all energy. I slept ok last night…[Read more]

  • My plan this week is to do some home improvement work every day.  Right now, that’s mostly removing wall paper. If it cools down, I’ll go outside and cut boards for my craft room closet.

My goal is to be in bed by 10:00 on Sunday.  I have to take Scott for an endoscopy on Monday, and will need to be up at 5:30 am. Since I normally go to bed aroun…[Read more]
