I see the Sports Medicine Doctor this morning. I’ll let y’all know what he says. Praying that he goes with Physical Therapy. It won’t be fun, but it’s better than surgery and then PT! Still sticking with my efforts to eliminate the types of carbs that are unhealthy for me. It seems to be grains. I don’t see the instant gain when I limit my carbs…[Read more]

Today, I’m trying to get my food plan back on track. I have let my carb cravings derail all my good intentions. I know it’s stress about my appointment with the surgeon tomorrow. I keep having these “what if ?” thoughts. Such as, What if I have to have surgery? How are we going to deal with things ? I won’t even be able to drive! Keep in mind, I…[Read more]

Sounds to me like Gabby has a healthy, realistic approach by saying she knows she has to change her lifelong relationship with food.
Also in the media semi-recently is one of the characters on This Is Us (TV show). Lots of stereotypes there, so we’ll see if that storyline progresses past them or not.

Sarahlareina replied to the topic Meal Planning/Prepping in the forum Open Discussion 7 years, 8 months ago
I have a weekly ritual: Friday or Saturday night I peruse Pinterest, magazine tear sheets, and my previous meal plans for things that sound good. I pick 3 or more meals for the week and log a typical day in MFP to make sure that I can meat my protein/carb goals with those meals. (80+ grams of protein and 135 grams or less carbs).
Once th…[Read more]

I am constantly looking for ways to expend energy! My new obsession is gardening and yard work, mostly just to have something active to do. I love the idea of trying all the “kid stuff”, but not sure my arthritic joints can keep up with me :/

Sarahlareina replied to the topic How often do you get hungry? in the forum Open Discussion 7 years, 8 months ago
I don’t feel physical hunger pains often (a couple times a month, maybe?) I eat every 3-4 hours most days, and I get shaky if I go too long without protein.

Meal prep done: Brownie protein oatmeal for breakfast, chicken lettuce wraps for lunches, cloud bread with PB for snacks, and crockpot carne asada with fresh pico for dinners.
I’ll workout with my trainer on Wednesday, walk 28-30 miles over the week + one other strength workout.
I’m not good about logging into the site daily, but I’ll track…[Read more]

I ziplined last year and loved it! Best NSV of the week – my guy and I decided to take a walk and ended up going almost 5 miles. Given that I could only walk 800 steps a day 3 years ago, that’s miraculous 🙂

I held to my food plan pretty well considering we had unexpected company today and an unplanned dinner out. We went to Jason’s Deli and the chips on my plate called my name LOUDLY!! I ended up dumping them on my husband’s plate so that I would quit eating them. The rest of my eating for the day went well and I actually managed to break 1,000…[Read more]

First off, I’m taking Nikki’s gratitude challenge and will try to remember to post in the Daily Accountability Forum.
This week I’m going back to my “no starchy carbs” food plan. I let them creep back in last week and now I’m paying for it on the scale. Menus will be planned tomorrow for the week. I also will be tracking my fluids closely, I fell…[Read more]

I was speaking with an acquaintance and in the course of the conversation, mentioned that I had had a gastric bypass. She gave me a funny look and said “But you don’t look like you’ve ever been over weight” Since I had been worrying about how losing 140 pounds would leave me with a lot of loose skin around my face, it was a very comforting…[Read more]

I’m 190 and a 12/14/Large. That’s down from 350 and 24/3X 2+ years ago. The numbers really don’t trip me up as long as I’m capable of doing all the things I want to do! (Walking, playing with my dogs, moving without pain). That said, I do watch the scale to make sure it doesn’t creep up. The size seems like an arbitrary thing.

For me, at the moment, I would have to say my weight. At my last appointment with my surgeon, He said that he would like to see me lose some more weight. I want to see if that is possible, as I never reached my personal goal, which is in line with what the surgeon wants. I’m okay with my size right now , I’m never going to be as small as I was…[Read more]
