This day kind of got off-track!
I took the girls to the dentist today. First time since Annikki became an adult. So weird that I pay for the visit but she signs all her own stuff. Hmph. I gotta get used to this whole “parent of an adult” deal.
Anyway all that took MUCH longer than I thought it would, which resulted in me coming in to work for a…[Read more]

But first, an update on the July Challenge.
I’m going to try something new. I’m going to give you ALL the challenge tasks (in a document) for the entire month. That way you don’t have to wait for me to email you to know what you will do.
But you do still need to report back in the forums! If you go to the July Challenge forum and don’t see a…[Read more]

Mmmkay, leaving Dr. Phil and going into “Iyanla, Fix My Life!” (Do you watch that show?)
Now that you know you are sometimes prone to shakiness/weakness, do you think it might be a good idea to pick up a few healthier “grab and go” options so that you don’t have to think about what to eat in those situations?

True fact: I have a mind thing about Jell-O! (shiver)
Ok so:
string cheese (usually 80 cals/8g protein per stick)
edamame
Ostrim Jerky (think Slim Jim but with mega-protein. They are sold at GNC.)
Moon Cheese (for when you get the crunchy munchies – look them up on Amazon. They are sold at Starbucks – which means they can be pricey – but…[Read more] -

Woot woot! Good session with the nutritionist.
So let’s get started with the snack brainstorm. Tell me what you absolutely HATE. We can go from there. 😉

I will soon have fresh picked tomatoes!
My challenge is not to fuss over the plants so much that I kill them lol. But I see more and more flowers popping out little baby tomatoes. It makes me so happy.
That was random, I know. But your marinara comment made me think of it. 🙂

I think you’ve noted something important though. You get FULL joy out of quilting when you do it with others. Do you think there’s any opportunity to do it locally with others, or does that not interest you?
I wish you lived closer. I am dying to learn! We have enough PA folks where some sort of meet-up almost seems required!

So here’s where I go all Dr. Phil (except cuter) on you…
I know that you’ve been in pain lately. Do you think that contributed to you turning to those foods? Are those comfort foods for you?
You’ve probably heard me say before that even when we do things we wish we didn’t do, we are getting something out of doing it. So I guess I would…[Read more]

I’ve been asking myself this question more and more lately. I want to spend more time on things that bring me joy and less on things that do not.
Just to be clear: I understand that not everything is joyful. Paying bills isn’t really joyful (although I am grateful I have the money to pay them), but I am working on approaching life in general with…[Read more]

Im not 100% sure it’s the water. I call this phenomenon “feast and famine.” Sometimes I can eat a lot (feast) and sometimes not much at all (famine). I’ve been eating intuitively for about four years now (meaning if I can eat a lot, and I’m hungry, I go with it but try for highly nutritious food, and when I can’t eat much I don’t.)
This time is…[Read more]

Tomorrow will be better.
But.
You should share what you ate. Not for us. For you. We all make poor eating choices. If you treat them with shame or avoidance they don’t become a meaningful learning moment.
So let’s destigmatize mistakes. They are just mistakes. We can own up to them, learn from them, and in this space you will NEVER face…[Read more]

I tried that too. Didn’t work out well. Basil needs SUN! I think mint does well in the shade though. I think.

Not sure about Nationals stadium but here in Baltimore, you are allowed to bring your own snacks into the park. Do you have a good read on snacks? If not I can definitely suggest a few things that are easy to pick up!

Thanks to the small group who joined our very first Vitamin Show & Tell. I can’t speak for anyone else, but it was very educational for me!
I learned about a few new products, got to hear how others approach their vitamin schedules, and about how often they get their lab work done.
This will be a quarterly event! If you couldn’t make it to this…[Read more]

So a funny thing has been happening in my gut lately. I don’t know if it’s my increased water intake or what but my eating capacity has gone wayyyyyyy down.
Like…I could only finish 1/4 of my dinner last night.
Like…I did not wake up this morning thinking about food.
Like…I did not get the munchies not once.
I’ve been like this about a…[Read more]

Nikki Massie replied to the topic What is your "go-to" meal?? in the forum Ask a Question, Get an Answer 7 years, 5 months ago
Little known fact about Nikki: If I thought I could get away with it, I’d probably eat cottage cheese every meal of the day lol.
Well that’s not 100% true. I like variety but cottage cheese is my “default food.” I can always eat it if all else fails or doesn’t interest me.
Other fairly common meals for me:
Scrambled eggs with salsa and cheese…[Read more]
