Good afternoon sunshines! I’m fessing up to a margarita last night, which of course led to a minor problem at work this morning (thank goodness I was wearing black pants, live close to the office and can work from home, just saying).
Challenge for me tonight, another confession, I don’t have friends I can hang out with much. Kids, married all…[Read more]

Yep, I definitely make lists to categorize them and am using those to guide my time; i.e., spending my time primarily on those items I control. I’m not sure where I came up with this idea, but I’m putting things in 3 buckets: What I control, what I can influence, and what I just need to be aware of/watch progress.

<hr />
Stress is definitely starting to take a toll on both my husband and me. Neither of us are sleeping well and our eating is becoming more of an issue. He’s eating too much and I’m not wanting to eat because everything makes me queasy. Even my favorite foods.
Working on steps (I’m having a lot of pain in my hip so this is slow) and my…[Read more]

Since I started using Good Measures, one thing I have noticed is that I was eating protein to the exclusion of a lot of micro-nutrients (micro-nutrients = vitamins/minerals). Now, granted, I am RNY and so by default I’ll always malabsorb micro-nutrients and need to take vitamins HOWEVER that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t eat a diet rich in…[Read more]

I’m still here I promise. Yesterday was crazy and so is today but I am making time for you all.
Today we have to run to Boise. It’s a 4+ hour trip. My oldest has an appointment which his Pediatric Gastroenterologist. That is a whole bunch of my stress. And it’s a long story. But hopefully we are making headway. Plus we are meeting up with a…[Read more]

Don’t even get me started. We have this coffee bar thing on my floor (high counter with stools and laptop plugs, etc.) which has become the “I want it out of my house so I’m going to sit it here in hopes that you save me from eating it by eating it first” space.
Ugh.
And the worst part is you have to go past that bar to get to the coffee and…[Read more]

My day started early with the dog deciding we needed to get up NOW!
I got my shopping done including the roasted turkey breast for lunches from the grocery store.
Steps are done (and no, Nikki, not on the treadmill) I have 12 ounces to go before hitting my 80 ounce goal
Breakfast was sausage and lentil soup
Lunch was some of the turkey and…[Read more]

I’m interested in this stress management process. Is this something you learned about? Tell me more! Like…I know you are a list-maker. Is this about making lists of things you control vs. influence? And what do you do with that info?

I finally made it to a zoom meeting last night. I didn’t dismiss my reminder on Insta of snooze on accident. I did have to stay up way late to make sure I watched game of Thrones before the spoilers stated, but so with it. Thank you for letting me share my story Nikki. Hey! Ok so I want to make sure I understand so that I can a) help and b) fix anything that’s confusing!
The weekly plan isn’t a super formal thing. You’ve been doing it through this mini-pledge! The basic gist is that you post what you’d like to accomplish in a given week. I usually come through on Sunday evening or Monday afternoon and look at…[Read more]

Um…I think we have graduated to maybe saying “I only like cottage cheese prepared certain ways…” Just sayin’! LOL.
Awesome that you found a few good recipes. I love just hollowing out an apple and putting some sweetener and apple pie spice in there and baking it. Then I fill it with either sweetened cottage cheese (which I don’t think you’d…[Read more]

Vacation, yay!
I think your goal sounds good. I understand it to be:
- Make the best choices you can while on vacay.
- Avoid dairy and wheat when possible.
I’d just empower you to be your own advocate on #2 and remember that restaurants and hotels are not called the HOSPITALITY industry for nothing. Their job is to please you! So make sure you…[Read more]

My husband and I are working on a plan to get done all that we need to do. About to head out to look for a couple of good sized bushes to replace our small rose bushes on the front of the house. (can you say “curb appeal”?). Hubby’s going to work on his resume tonight.
