“Oh frabjous day, caloo, calay!” (Ten points to whoever knows where that quote comes from.)
I am HAPPY! Why? Both my girl cats went to get spayed today. BOOM! No more endless yowling. No more attacks on my sweet boy kitty (who is neutered) because he won’t respond to their demands. AND…they are getting their nails clipped so I’ll have at least…[Read more]

Today’s task:
Treat yourself to a sit-down coffee at your local coffee shop.
Ok so for this one it doesn’t have to be coffee. It can be tea. Chai. A smoothie. Whatever. The sit-down part is to denote taking 10-15 minutes out of your day to enjoy your drink instead of taking it to go.This one took a bit of planning on my part, but I’m gonna do…[Read more]

I’m probably not chewing as much as the doctors advise, but I do pause quite a bit between bites. I typically take 2-3 small bites, then wait a good 5 minutes. I spend that time talking to whoever I’m with or reading when I’m alone. The key for me is not to eat WHILE reading because I go on auto-pilot and don’t notice how much I’m eating or how…[Read more]

My list includes a day of sightseeing with hubby on 8/9 in New Orleans with NO children anywhere near us, not checking our phones constantly & relaxing; trying to remember why we are together.
It also includes Corndogs & Carnage at the Summit county fair THIS weekend! I can’t believe it’s here!!! Please pray my Screamer doesn’t reinjure her L…[Read more]

Last year at YWM, a chap mentioned eating with chopsticks. I’ve noticed when I do that, albeit not as often as I should, I tend to eat much slower & more mindfully.

Thanks friends!
I would happily accept hugs if you don’t mind me blubbery-crying…
Kathy, the support at home most definitely has changed/disappeared & i wonder as hubby stalls in his pre-op fear if that’s helping me falter It is real easy to say “I hurt too much” & just flop about then actually walking around the park or daring to put skates…[Read more]

Actually, I was just complaining about my day. I have my list and have set Thursday as the first date to check something off. I’m going to take myself out to “Three Spoons Yogurt” and have a low fat/low sugar frozen yogurt topped with fresh fruit

I started my no shakes/no bars today and I must say, it’s been hard!
Breakfast – cheese stick and a little bag of peanuts while my car’s oil was being changed.
Lunch – homemade chicken salad
Dinner – the last of the chili I took out of the freezer (I love my husband’s chili!)
Bedtime snack – I don’t know yet, but I need to get it figured out…[Read more]

What I like about the Pledge-esque process is that you pick your own thing to work on, so I hope that makes it easier for things like vacations because you get to adjust for your different schedule!

I’m slow today cuz I’m like, “Huh?”
There’s one day overlap with the July challenge but other than that, what challenges are we in? (Cuz whatever they are I’ve been slacking at them!)

I had trouble with this one… the only thing I really wanted to do was to go to OAC… and then to Florida. OAC has to wait till next year and Florida has to be put off till Spring. I will try to think of a few other things!!

This week is a bit wonky because of the Celebrate Vitamins Challenge. But I am committed to still making it healthy!
Meals:
I plan to make some chili tonight for the rest of the week and I’ve been playing with a tilapia picatta recipe for the blog so I’ll enjoy that too. I still have some of my new batch of lemon bars if I need something sweet…[Read more]

Go into more detail about this Big Mac salad…
How have you been feeling physically? I wouldn’t want you to add in more exercise if you are still in pain or feel like your range of motion isn’t where it needs to be.
I hear ya on the challenge with planning breakfast and lunch. Usually my lunches are dinner leftovers. Breakfast I am liable to…[Read more]

A miracle happened. Maria or someone must have sent good weather because I awakened and it was in the 70s! It was like a dream. It’s still only in the 80s so guess where I’m going this evening? The lake!
I’ve had a fairly healthy day so far. Forced myself to pack my meals this morning (did not feel like doing it but sometimes you gotta strongarm…[Read more]

For those of you who did the Bariatric Foodie Pledge in February, the set-up should seem familiar. But I’ve tweaked it a tiny bit!
